The Courtship
Windham Series, Book 0.5
Release date: January 7, 2015
Duration: 03:07:31

The first novella to be published by New York Times best-selling author Grace Burrowes features the foundation story for her best-selling series. This is the tender story of love tested and won, and how Percy Windham, the dashing and brilliant man who was never supposed to become the Duke of Moreland, wooed the amazing lady who became his beloved Duchess. Percival Windham is a second son, and a cavalry officer acclaimed and respected by his men. He is immensely attractive and distracts himself with the women who seem to throw themselves at him at every turn, until at a country house party; he meets beautiful, retiring Esther Himmelfarb. Esther’s wealthier relations are taking shameless advantage of her dependence on them, and only Percy seems to see the striking intelligence beneath her modest demeanor. Percy sees her as the perfect companion and she finds in him the man of her dreams.

Esther is exhausted and emotional, Percival is considering the wisdom of finding a mistress, and then two women from Percival’s past wreak further havoc on the marriage, with potentially disastrous consequences for the entire Windham family.

Percival and Esther must grow into the nobility they’ve been resisting and stand together, or face the threat of destroying their family and the beautiful love that started out with such promise…

Morgan and Archer

Windham Series, Book 8.5
Release date: January 23, 2015
Duration: 03:02:33

Archer Portmaine is investigating a plot against the Crown when he meets Morgan James, a young lady who suffered deafness for several years, though her hearing is largely restored when Archer meets her. Morgan believes her hearing trouble makes her a poor candidate for marriage, although her disability provides the key to unraveling Archer’s mystery, and to capturing his heart.

Note – Morgan James is Anna’s sister—the heroine from The Heir. Burrowes’ people can pop-up in other books as they do with Stephanie Laurens.

Archer in this novel is a very different then in Lady Maggie’s Secret Scandal. Who knows what happened in the couple of years in between to change him from a careless skirt chaser to a dedicated, perceptive man in this novella? Maybe Grace Burrowes will tell us some day.
